Amphoteric Metals And Some Colours obtained on heating

 

Some of the amphoteric metals are : - Sb , Zn , As , Sn , Pb , Al.

Reactions for amphoteric metals are as under:-

Zn + NaOH ==> Na2ZnO2 + H2

Al + NaOH ==> NaAlO2 + H2

Al + NaOH + H2O ==> Na[Al(OH)4]

Al + NaOH  ==fused==> Na3AlO3

Some Colours obtained on heating:-

Na ==heat==> gives yellow colour

K , Rb , Cs ==heat==> gives violet colour

Ca==heat==> gives brick red colour

Sr (Strontium) ==heat==> gives apple green colour

Ba ==heat==> gives copper brown colour
